NAMI Family and Friends Seminar
The NAMI Family & Friends Program is a free seminar that informs people who have loved ones with a mental health condition how best to support them. The goal of the 90-minute, in-person seminar is to offer participants 18 years and older, practical skills and information to address their immediate concerns until they can attend an 8 week NAMI, Family-To-Family course. It is also an opportunity to meet other people in similar situations and gain community support.
Led by NAMI trained people with lived experience of supporting a family member with a mental health condition, the seminar includes topics such as:
- Understanding diagnoses, treatment, and recovery
- Effective communication strategies
- The importance of self-care
- Crisis preparation strategies
- NAMI and community resources
Participants will receive a free e-book after the presentation!
By engaging in a discussion about mental health among their peers, families and friends realize they are not alone.
