Annual Appeal

Dear Friends of Warren County Habitat for Humanity (WCHFH),

“I can’t wait to do laundry in my own home, and not to have to walk up flights of stairs, and have some storage space, and actually have a bathtub!”. These are the words of one of the mothers waiting to take occupancy this winter in a Warren County Habitat home. Anticipation is growing for one family of six and another family, a single mom and her son.

Our Current Project banner

This year, the Habitat team is nearing completion of a two-story duplex in Port Colden, constructed from the ground up. It will provide affordable housing for those three adults and five children. While it’s a blessing to be able to help two families at once, Habitat’s construction and fundraising teams have been significantly challenged this year.

The partner family adults have also been challenged. Habitat bylaws require them to contribute hundreds of “sweat equity” hours to the construction, and they are either approaching, or have exceeded those thresholds. All of this while juggling multiple jobs of their own.

And we’re getting very close. This holiday season, the focus of our Annual Appeal is to raise enough funds to finish the flooring in both homes, among the last installations in the duplex. Our goal is to raise funds for the materials and installation of the flooring in both units, a need currently estimated at $9,855.

You can make a difference for these families by donating toward this effort during the holiday season. All contributions are tax deductible and your entire donation will be used for the Port Colden duplex flooring, or other finishing needs should we exceed our goal. Donating is easy from our Donate Money Page, or you can mail a check to our office at 31 Belvidere Avenue, Washington, NJ 07882.

Thank you for your support of the construction of these two Habitat homes, and the twelve others that have come before them. Your generosity enables us to provide affordable housing, and hope, to these partner families in need.

On behalf of the entire Warren County Habitat for Humanity family, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a safe, healthy and Happy New Year.

God Bless,

Ben Eskow
